How strongly a product filters a source of noise is always stated on the packaging of the hearing protection. The so-called insulation value or damping is measured in decibels (db). Each hearing protection usually has a total value db SNR and a value for high, medium and low. The following values as an example: Damping value: 26 dB SNR High: 36dB Mid: 35dB Low: 15dB SNR is an English. Abbreviation and means "signal noise ratio". Translated means the signal-to-noise ratio, ie the ratio of a signal (eg., Language) and a noise. In the case of hearing protection products, of course, this would generally be a source of noise (eg loud music, lawnmowers). The higher the SNR value, the more the noise source is filtered. Decibels (db), on the other hand, indicates the noise level in a simplified way, ie how loud a noise is. Specifically, in the above example, this means that the total noise is reduced by 26 db, with high frequencies around 36 db, mid frequencies around 35 db and low frequencies around 15 db reduced. Why is there a distinction between high, mid and low? These values show you which frequencies are reduced mainly by hearing protection. So if you want to use your hearing protection more often during an activity and take it out again, then you should rather fall back on stoppers. Earplugs and silicone and wax products may or may not be cleaned. Just silicone and wax have a sticky structure which causes them to stick very well in the auricle. However, earwax and impurities, which we all have in our ears, also adhere to the material. For hygienic reasons you should not reuse these products often. We recommend ear plugs and products made of silicone and wax always use only 1x in the ear and then dispose of it in the household waste. Ear muffs, on the other hand, can be easily and simply cleaned. For this you use special cleaner for earmuffs. This has an antibacterial effect and gently cleanses the material. If you do not have a special cleaner on hand, just use clear water with some normal soap. But if you want to hear our opinion, then use special hearing protection cleaner. This is specially tailored to the needs of the material. You should not use any chemical cleaners, as they can attack the material and may not be tolerated by the skin.

Babies absolutely need a very special ear protection. You must be aware that normal hearing protection can be dangerous for babies. Ear plugs are usually too big and not useful for the little ears of children. The ear canal is still too small, tight and sensitive. In addition, the ear plugs could accidentally fall out and the baby or toddler could swallow the plug. The latter could even be life-threatening. Normal earmuffs are also not suitable. Products for adults are usually too big for the small head, but also products for children are not optimal. Earmuffs usually sit with a certain "pressure" on the ears to prevent slipping or falling down when moving. This pressure can be dangerous for babies and toddlers. Especially in babies, the skull bone has not completely closed. This area on the baby's head is called Fontanelle. Since the skull is still very soft in this area, the pressure exerted by the hearing protection pressure on the head can be harmful. But there are differences that you do not see at first glance. Because the true values are in the product. The inner values are important. The materials used, as well as the structure of the product decide on the performance and the insulation value. However, since you can not look into the product, you need objective criteria for quality. All products that you can find in our shop are tested and certified. In this context, you will find 3 characters: "CE" sign With the CE mark the manufacturer declares that the product complies with the legal requirements. The CE marking is intended to ensure technically safe products for consumers in the EU. "EN" sign EN is the abbreviation for European Norm. This is a standardized standard for testing products. The testing of a product is the sole responsibility of a so-called "notified body". This body (a company, a testing institute or engineering office) must first check a product for a standard. If it has passed this test, the product will be provided with the EN No. of the applicable standard. In the case of hearing protection products, it is often an EN 352 test. Example: EN 352-1: 2002 means European Norm 352-1, year of testing: 2002 "ANSI" sign ANSI stands for "American National Standards Institute" and is a US body for standardization of industrial practices (Seat: Washington, DC) The ANSI test is not mandatory for Europe. In Europe, only the test according to EN applies. A product with ANSI and EN marks has been tested both in the US and in the EU.
Hearing protection is subject to the same exchange deadlines as any other product bought online. There is a slight difference, however. Earplugs and products made of silicone or wax can only be returned in their original packaging and unused. As these are hygiene products, they cannot be exchanged after use. After use, the product may be contaminated with germs, bacteria or wax and therefore unusable. We ask for your understanding. Ear muffs, on the other hand, can be exchanged as normal within the specified deadlines.
In rare cases, it may happen that our children's ear protection is perceived as very tight and the pressure on the head as too strong. The ear defenders must be so tight in some situations that they will not slip off the ears. Imagine, your child is standing next to you while building a house and you are currently working with the jackhammer or the circular saw. If the ear protection now slips off the ears, then a secure protection is no longer guaranteed. However, if children now use the hearing protection in schools, for example, then the risk of hearing damage is quite low. This is more about "quiet work". In order to widen the earmuffs and to reduce the pressure on the head, there is a little trick: stuff the original packaging with some paper and put the earmuffs around the packaging. Keep the ear protection 1-2 days tense. After the 2 days, the contact pressure has decreased a bit and the ear protection is not so tight on the ears. If you have no packaging, then just use a wooden post, metal posts, a stair railing or something with which you can expand the ear protection. Please note, however, that you do this at your own risk. You should then the hearing protection can not be use more in noisy surroundings. This trick is intended only for school, kindergarten or quiet environment.
